Do you speak Danish?

Ever.

- Så goodbye world, hej pølseland!

Troubles of a geek-mom

OK, so now that I'm at finally posting again. I'd love to complain about something that's kinda geeky and momsy at the same time (Warning. If your not into toys for toddlers, you might find this post quite boring). Our kid Topper is almost a year and all over the place - he wants to bang buttons and drool over anything he comes across - but the one thing he find MOST interesting is our laptops - So brilliant me - decided that a toy-laptop would be the perfect gift for his first birthday. But alas - have you seen what's out there for kids Topper's age? It's not so much what a laptop surrogate actually can do - it just needs to simulate being a laptop - by having some sort of screen that changes once in a while - it needs buttons, and the main thing is that it actually LOOKS like a real computer. The last part is almost impossible - seriously.

To illustrate what I'm up against, I'd like to show you what VTech (who seem to be a market leader in this category) have for kids Topper's age:

Does that look like a laptop? No. Will it give your laptop rest from little baby fingers? I seriously doubt it.

or this from?

OK, VTech has another one for older kids that I might buy because of it's good reviews but the colour scheme is kinda off

I actually liked this one by Fisher Price but I couldn't fint any retailer who ships it to Denmark...

And finally there's this one that I liked because it looks like a real computer - but this one doesn't even have a real screen it just has a couple of cardboard cards (in English) So I don't think it'll hold his interest for very long

RGB Light and sorry...

OK, I've been a bad blogger - I guess it's because I started this posterous account up and I don't even know if anyone reads the damn thing - and it's a weird blog to - because it's partly inspiration, partly pictures of our little monster (<3).
But ok, I'm going to pretend that there might be someone who enjoys random ideas and my kid as much as I do and try to do a better job.

So here's something nerdy I would LOVE to hang over my dinner table - The RGB light by Fabian Nehne and Martin Meier.

Why schools kill creativity

A wonderful talk from Sir Ken Robinson in 2006 on why teaching creativity is as important as teaching how to read...

and here is his more recent follow-up talk:

Okay I admit it's old news and kinda corny, but I miss my old Holga camera and I love the way this app makes my life seem so idyllic and holiday-every-day like

This is where I live, only 40 years before I ever did

These pictures turned up when I was checking out my neighbourhood in Google street view.

I wish we still had trams, they look so cool. I'm sure if we had trams instead of busses people would be much happier when they took public transportation...
